Album Notes

Dimly lit by the lights of Las Vegas sixty miles away, lies a part of the desert floor known as "The Heart Of The New Old West." It is there you will find the emerging Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist....RICK SCANLAN.

After many years of writing and performing solo, and in duos and bands from rock genre's to country, Rick has honed his music to this NEW CULTIVATED STYLE OF COUNTRY.

Finally, here comes his first CD with a collection of his own songs about life's journey, and he leaves you feeling like you were along for the ride. Listen to "Backroads" (track 2) and you'll see "he's a little bit country, and a little bit rock 'n' roll." Listen to the title track (track 3) and you will feel his passion.

Part sailor, part biker, with a dusting of desert cowboy, best describes this new talent who sounds a little bit like
Gordon Lightfoot combined with Neil Diamond, and just a dash of Kenny Rogers. But it's easy to see the writing influences of the Eagles, Keith Whitley and Jimmy Buffett.

This is not typical "tear in your beer" Country...this is Country music for folks that come into town a bit more often.

This CD is so cool! There is so many tunes that I like that it is hard to narrow it down to just 1 or 2. I think I wore out my copy... so I am here to probably buy another. Does he have anymore CDs out there? I'll be checking back for it. If not now, I hope he puts something else out soon! Cool CD!!!!

Things Jimmy Never Sang About is a fun and interesting song. Backroads will surely become an anthem to us riders. Autobiography to Jack is great! Cali-Butterfly is a BLAST! Let Me Say I love You is the love song of a lifetime! My Wife and I listen to this CD in our Jeep all the time. My favorites are those five... The other three are good, quality songs... I just have to pick my favorites! Five favorite songs from eight isn't bad... Five out of eight stars is worth it!!!

I Dare You to Read My Review... I love this CD

Have you heard this CD? Each song stands alone on it’s own merit. After wearing the CD thin, I still haven't been able to narrow down one favorite. But, if you are looking for romantic mood music, then you can’t go wrong with “Let Me Say I Love You”. “Backroads” lets the miles pass with a little more ease. “Autobiography to Jack” sounds like that old classic that you just can’t put your finger on. If Jimmy Buffet hasn’t heard “Things Jimmy Never Sang About”, he needs to. “The Eagle…” is definitely a testament to American Pride. Can you tell I really like the CD? You will too, my friend!

Who said the common man can't write, play, or sing a little something for everyone? Rick Scanlan lives his music, loves his life, and makes for a damn good time.
