Doc Scanlon's Rhythm Boys has traditionally been part of Albany, New York's hugely successful First Night party every year (save one) since the event's inception in 1984. "Live at First Night", their second CD release, was recorded at the 1995 celebration.
The recording also serves at an anniversary album of sorts, marking the group's 20th year performing!
The album's song selections are a grab bag of the band's history, including one of the first songs they ever worked up, "I've Got a Feelin' You're Foolin.'" In between are Louis Jordan and Louis Prima jump blues, early 50's Rock, Big Band Swing and Ballads - the styles that make up the combo's trademark danceable potpourri.
There is even a holiday entry on the release, with Chuck Berry's "Run, Run, Rudolph" and an original song by songwriter Sam Whedon, "The Toaster Song."
This album will give you the unexpurgated, energetic live sound of a hot band on an exciting night.
