Album Notes

Born in Tennessee,I first saw Elvis at the Mid-South Fair in Memphis. He was strolling through the fairgrounds, holding hands with an attractive lady and stopped at the midway to throw some balls and hand out teddy bears to the girls gathered around. As a teenager my friends and I would sit on the bed, listen to Old Shep and cry. Six of us went together to see Love Me Tender at the local theater. We played his songs at all our dances. Many years later I belonged to a songwriting group and met my co-writer who ask me to join him in writing a song to express our remembrance and our love of Elvis and his music. Our song is also now available for digital downloads at Apple iTunes and many other digital sites.Betty------------- -------------Like other teenagers who grew up in the fifties, I heard Elvis sing on the radio. I was an only child and my Mom and Dad were divorced. Mom and I didn't have a lot back then but we owned a radio and I had a dog, who was my best friend. The first time I heard Elvis sing Old Shep, I related to the song more than any song I've ever heard.I was waiting in the checkout line in a supermarket in 1988 and saw this glaring tabloid headline that said, ELVIS IS ALIVE!!! I read some of it and thought, how disrespectful. I later thought, Elvis is alive alright, he lives in the heart and mind of everyone who knew him and his wonderful music.I knew if I could get my idea in the hands of a good songwriter, a fitting tribute could be written for Elvis. I was very fortunate and met Betty, who agreed to help me write this song. I don't need to tell you what a good songwriter she is, just listen to the words. James
