notes
"Call this modern-edged tribal groove metal (guitar solos included), falling somewhere between Alice In Chains and Black Sabbath, with a healthy dose of Black Label Society guitar fatness thrown in to bind the hooks together. And there are a ton of ‘em...Vocalist Sylvya NuVynska possesses one of the most unique female voices in metal these days – somewhere between Layne Staley and your favourite phone sex operator..."
- Carl Begai, Bravewords and Bloody Knuckles
"Scarlet Sins are 4 girls who will not hesitate to rip you a new one!! They're hot, they're loud and they are good. Really f%@#ing good!!"
- Scott Penfold, Q107fm On-Air Personality, Toronto
"Scarlet Sins is a band that reaches back into the roots of the rock, metal and industrial traditions and pull out a fist full of sinfully sonic sounds conjuring a tempest of music that floods your soul like an infinite ocean chasing the phoenix--their live performance is like a flooding flight of fire..."
-Al Soni, Metal Canvas CHUO 89.1fm, Ottawa

Music speaks for itself, but when it comes to Toronto’s Scarlet Sins, it shouts in your face.
The all-female four piece act Scarlet Sins is the latest gem on its way up through the dirt of Toronto’s music scene. Tagged by industry insiders as the ultimate hybrid of gritty Black Sabbath execution and edgy Alice In Chains alternative, the band scored a major victory with the independent release of their self-titled debut in 2008 and continue to use the album's momentum in their push towards a career on the world stage. And while the masses may zero in Scarlet Sins' collective sex appeal at the start, it's their brand of new old school metal that has earned them an international fan following.
Their trademark tribal groove coupled with singer Sylvya NuVynska's unique voice has set them apart and well above the wannabes and has beens, proving atmosphere and in-your-face aggression can be delivered in a single, solid package without having to cater to the all too common demand for T&A or aggression for aggression's sake. With numerous shows through Ontario and Quebec; being direct support for Motley Crue at the Sarnia Bayfest 2008, as well as a two day stand at the Powerbox Festival in Darrington, WA under their belts, Scarlet Sins continue to focus on bringing their music across live to anyone looking for something different, original and honest to sink their teeth into.
Carl Begai / BW&BK

Scarlet Sins - Incredible Music!!
author: AmitI was just thinking of yet another metal band, when I read their review in the University of Alberta Gateway. Their song intros on their Myspace site intrigued me. And my oh my, what have we here, a female metal band with the power to blow you away! Absolutely fantastic!! Sylvya has a very unique voice, makes her stand away from most symphonic metal bands, Elie on the drums is marvelous, and so are Cristina and Tanya on the rhythm and bass guitars!! 5 stars!! Always in support of Canadian Rock!!

A lot of potential here!
author: AdamI'm on a quest to find good female-fronted metal. I'm picky. It's hard. But Scarlet Sins have a good mix of heavy riffs, melody and clear(ly female) vocals that I find rare! They put effort into their lyrics and their sound is professional. They're also Canadian - huzzah.
Scarlet Sins...

Scarlet Sins
author: Rosie ProdigalidadI am suprised this band has not been signed, yet. I found the band by accident (browsing YouTube for girl drummers) and was introduced to Scarlet Sins. I have always been into heavy metal and longed for a REAL, all woman, group. There were "attempts" in the 80's, but wasn't quite as hard as I wanted them to be (but not too thrashy). But, low and behold....2007-2008....Scarlet Sins has hit every happy cord in me! Great band, great music, I am definately looking forward for more of this ALL GIRL ROCK BAND! Hurry and come perform in the U.S. Someone sign this band, please!!! Ro
Super énergie!
author: clavel damienJe pense être un des premiers français à avoir acheté leur album, et je ne le regrette absolument pas. Je leur souhaite de connaître tout le succès qu' elles méritent.
We Love Scarlet Sins. In High-Rotation For Months!
author: Melted Metal Web RadioMelted Metal Web Radio loves Scarlet Sins, and we've had them in high-rotation since August 07. Our tracking shows that our head-banging crazy-mo-fo listeners love them. This is a great metal album, with flawless execution!
These Girls Rawk!
author: MagsExcellent debut album from this all girl band. I'm impressed - crank up the volume and you won't be disapointed. The power ballad With You reminds me a lot of Doro. All in all one of the best CDs I've bought in a long time!
Good Stuff
author: Ceallaigh S. MacCath-MoranLike Nitro Rat, I found out about Scarlet Sins when I saw Elie on YouTube (damn, that girl can play). Solid musicianship here, and a powerhouse sound. I look forward to continued great things from these women.
Scarlet Sins; Brilliant Debut
author: Nitro RatI just discovered this group (saw Elie bangin' drums on YouTube). I checked out their MySpace page and was excited to learn they had an album set to drop and CD-Baby had it. I guess the first run sold-out, but I got on the waiting list. Definitely worth the wait. This album has that intangible magic that happens when the right chemistry occurs within a group of talented musicians and songwriters. Adding fuel to the fire, the CD is very well produced and sounds amazing....even better as the volume is cranked. This is what today's music is missing. This CD will move to the top of your listening rotation!
A RUN FOR YOUR SINS

modern-edged tribal groove metal
author: Carl BegaiIt’s best to leave all pre-conceived notions at the door when entering Scarlet Sins’ self-titled debut. An all female four-piece they may be, but they put the screws to the idiotic belief that women in metal = looks before talent. The Toronto-based band is 10 steps ahead of their demo EP circulated to garner attention, and the comparisons to the now defunct Drain STH are so far off the mark as to be laughable. Call this modern-edged tribal groove metal (guitar solos included), falling somewhere between Alice In Chains and Black Sabbath, with a healthy dose of Black Label Society guitar fatness thrown in to bind the hooks together. And there are a ton of ‘em. It’s a shock, in all honesty, just how deep the album sinks in right from the opening stomp of ‘Let Go’, through the Zakk Wylde guitar crush of ‘Own Truth’ and a neck wrecking cover of Depeche Mode’s ‘Strangelove’, to the hypnotic ‘Fire Inside’. Vocalist Sylvya NuVynska possesses one of the most unique female voices in metal these days – somewhere between Layne Staley and your favourite phone sex operator – and that groove… postively lethal when it wants to be. Credit where it’s due, producer Rich Chycki (Rush) has brought out the sonic best in Scarlet Sins, kicking the song dynamics in the ass in a way; what you would expect on a Rush release. Perhaps the only sticking point is the final track ‘No Arguments’ and the short acoustic ‘Entre’ preceeding it, both of worth but somehow out of place after an 11 song run of captivating magic.
