SCARS OF ENVY releases their first full-length recording, Forsaken Me.
Produced by Jeff Anthony and Greg James, this album shows the overall unique musicality of SCARS OF ENVY as a whole.
The band’s name SCARS OF ENVY, introduces a deeper, more inquisitive look into the chaotic turmoil of just living through a bond formed by a message of hope through hostile expression. With the scars of life burned deep into each member the envy of man continues to drive them forward.
Forsaken Me, an album that exemplifies the band’s devotion to delve into the heart of humanity, showcases a myriad of immense rhythms, while unleashing euphoric choruses that tap into the pulse of each listener. The evocative passage “Bred to Conquer” reminisces to the infinite battle of good versus evil that began at the dawn of time, and yet, continues to wage on worldwide. “Forsaken Me”, an individual narrative of one’s strength to defy the constant attacks of malice, ruin and projected misery, glorifies self-awareness, adopts personal boundaries and is written to enrich the soul. The thunderous hymn “Carry The Wounded” praises mercy for those of us who yearn for refuge in our darkest hours and salutes the spirit of our brethren who sacrifice themselves to aid us back to repair.
SCARS OF ENVY - Originally brought together by Jeff Anthony and Greg James, they quickly discovered that the addition of Ethan Murphy and Marc Ambrosy created something unique, original and outside of the box. Each member of SCARS OF ENVY, previously playing with other bands, didn't take long to find out that they have each found a comfortable home. The Current Line-up of SCARS OF ENVY: Ethan Murphy, lead vocals ; Jeff Anthony, lead guitar and backing vocals; Greg James, bass guitar and backing vocals; and Marc Ambrosy, drums and percussion.
Marc Ambrosy and Greg James maintain the solid anchor of just raw power that smacks you in the face. Jeff Anthony’s guitar work is exceptional, providing distorted, overdriven riffs as well as powerful rhythms that resolve into and out of skillfully placed solo work. On vocals, Ethan Murphy demonstrates formidable range. With his vocals, Ethan brings a powerful voice to the mix that helps to drive songs along to an edgy delivery to the material found in the band's music. Viewed as a whole, SCARS OF ENVY harnesses considerable talent at the individual level to raise “Forsaken Me” to a place that is as challenging as it is a message that is clearly defined.
Ultimately, the story of SCARS OF ENVY is a tale of HOPE, FEAR and AGGRESSION. The members of SOE seek to bring this message to the masses while collectively writing music that expresses the toughest challenges of life faced by everyone.
