Album Notes

Scavenger was formed in late September 2001, featuring members of different bands in the local scene of Drogheda Ireland with the aim to fill a necessary void in the steadily growing Irish metal scene. After 2 months of hard jamming they entered FatDog Studios in Meath to record their audaciously self-titled debut demo.

The demo 'Scavenger' received outstanding reviews in Ireland and across Europe through the various websites and publications through the sheer voracity and aggression within. Its blistering rhythms and breakneck riffing already guaranteed them their just place in Irish metal history with bags of promise for the future. “Is it possible that the demo of the year has arrived already in February?” (METAL-ONLY.COM)

“A work like this would be enough to bring Megadeth back to their peak, that's all you need to konw. I don't think I need to say anything else about these four Irish thrashers, I just need to go back to listening to their masterpiece." (METAL MANIACS)

A number of dates throughout the country helped establish a name for themselves and further raise the profile of this new and hardworking band. After their fantastic reception from the live dates, they got stuck into writing new songs for their debut album. In March 2003 they entered FatDog studios again and recorded their debut album. The CD was then mixed and mastered by Stuart Anstis (Ex-Cradle of Filth) at SoundCage, UK. Autumn of 2003 saw them sign to leading Irish Metal Label Sentinel Records and the release of their debut album entitled 'Madness To Our Method' in early 2004.

With an extensive live follow up and supports slots to Heavy Metal bands such as Paul Dianno, Destruction, Rotting Christ, Amon Amarth, a UK tour and a European tour under their belt, Scavenger will make a considerable and impressive impact on the metal scene.

REVIEWS

Scavenger

It’s really hard to me to review this band, because I never get much into the Power Metal scene, I think it’s full of crap, but SCAVENGER is not one of those, they play heavy, with a total old school feeling, thrashy Power Metal!! Sometimes in the vein of old Megadeath with some hints of Dream Theater (without the keyboards). The only Heavy/Power Metal that I really like is Maiden, Dio, Judas Priest… and this band fit perfectly with my “old school taste”. The musical skills of their members are remarkable, specially the guitar, that drive all the music into some groove, power feeling. My major repair into the Power Metal bands is the kind a gay vocal style; this is definitely not the case, it’s full of power and emotion (my congratulation to Peter Dunne). The drum and bass sound are the perfect complement of each other. An absolutely notable point is they never sound “happy” (…you know what I mean).
