Album Notes

Susannah Clifford Blachly grew up in Cornwall Vermont and began studying violin at age 7. She played through college then took a 15 year hiatus until the year 2000 when she took her first fiddle lesson. Within a year she was writing her own tunes and playing in dance halls throughout Vermont. Susannah soon expanded her musical skills to include song writing, which culminated in her 2004 CD release Girl In The Photograph, a recording containing an eclectic mix of her original fiddle tunes and songs. Upon hearing the results of her first full-length recording, Robert Resnik, host of VPR's All The Traditions, described Susannah as a "master composer and performer of many styles of music." In 2005 Sing Out magazine published the cut Secret Place in their summer issue. The CD was also voted one of the top ten CDs of 2004 by Vermont's premier arts weekly, Seven Days. Susannah released her second CD "Middle of the Night," in October 2005, featuring another eclectic mix of fiddle tunes & songs about love, healing & hope. Susannah lives in Marshfield, Vt. with her husband Tom and son, Adam.

Sweet, happy, funny, joyous; this CD is a joy to listen to. There are stunners like "Colored Baloons" with it's simple poignancy, "The Line Between" evoking everyone's problem with "How the hell did I end up an adult?" The fiddle tunes are a pleasure and the whole thing is a lot of fun. When's the next one out?
