Jack wrote this song in 1945 after his tour during WWII. He died in 1984, having never recorded this song. His daughter Melody Anne believes that his sentiments today would parallel what he felt 60 years ago. This is a limited edition.

My father, Jack "Jive" Schafer was not only a fine trumpeter, arranger and composer, but he was a great entertainer. Born in Baltimore Maryland in 1908 and coming from a musical family, it was inevitable that he become a musician. Jack and I have other CD's for sale also. As you can tell by the audience's reaction on the other CD's, he loved to make people laugh. What make's this recording unusual, although he passed in 1984, is that this song has no comedy written into it whatsoever. The haunting melody leaves little to understand how he felt in 1945. I believe he directed me to this song to try and bring the message to the world 60 years later. My father was a great inspiration to me and to everyone he met. Be sure to check out The "Quiet Whiskey" CD Jack and I have here. This was Jack at his finest. Live recording, live audience, a good band, and some comedy. I miss you very much, Daddy. Melody Anne.
