Album Notes

Matt Schanandore is an internationally known Native American Flutist, who was born and raised in the historical town of Mandan, North Dakota. In June of this year Matt released his second set of self titled albums. "A Legacy" is a collection of old-style and contemporary Native American flute music.
Matt is of European, Native American and Hispanic ancestry. His native heritage originates from the Mandan-Hidatsa tribes of North Dakota and the Oneida tribe of Wisconsin.
Matt's first music albums were dedicated in memory of his grandmother, Regina Schanandore, and his second sets of albums are a reflection of his diverse heritage. Matt learned to play the piano at an early age with his grandmother as his teacher, who was an accomplished pianist. Matt's grandmother was also a well known Native American storyteller. It was through her stories that Matt learned about his native heritage.
His songs will continue to be a tribute to the life of this wonderful lady who became Matt's most significant source of inspiration for his music.
In January of 2004, Matt had the privilege of traveling through Scandinavia with a local Native American group, on behalf of North Dakota Tourism and Icelandair. During this tour, he performed several of his Native American flute songs and spoke on his North Dakota heritage. Since Matt's first release in June of 2002, he has done various performances in the local Bismarck/ Mandan area and around the state
