ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Open Spaces was recorded in Alamosa, Colorado, where Matthew has been living since 2005. The compositions on this CD are in many ways inspired by the open spaces and beauty of southern Colorado. These instrumental compositions feature multi-instrumentalist Don Richmond, percussionist James Doyle, bassist Johnny Gutierrez, and guitarist Mel Lockhart, with appearances by Leigh Ann Phillips on vocals and Veronica Starcher on french horn.

Matthew grew up on Long Island, New York and now lives in Alamosa, Colorado. In many ways, these songs reflect both areas of the country, as they range from jazzy, city-inspired pieces (Skyline, Crescent City, Sierra Night) to folk-like, pastoral compositions (Pathways, Perfect Spring, Celebration).
