Tight grooves, excellent band
author: Mike Flowerday
This album can't be faulted. Schoedler's compositions all work very well, and the band do them justice with some beautifully-integrated playing. Whether in the section or in his several well-taken solos, the leader is right on the money throughout, and combines with drummer Steve Jordan to create a range of tight, bouncing, snappy grooves to die for. Good recorded sound too; an excellent band, a terrific bass player, and a first-rate album.

It's most definetly difficult to emotionally displaying the appreciation of an ever-learning "by-ear" bassist in words. To hear a great variety of grooves, melodies and musicianship from a new voice is always a blessing. Marcus Miller, John Pattitucci, Matthew Garrison, Brian Bromberg, Tom Kennedy, Kai Eckhardt, Gary Willis & Anthony Jackson are a few of my influences. This offers an ideal of what I like and how high my standards are...I'd put Craig right in there! Keep 'em coming!
