Album Notes

Schola Magdalena, directed by Stephanie Martin, is a group of five women who specialize in the performance of Gregorian chant and medieval polyphony. They are ensemble in residence at the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Toronto, Canada. Their new CD "O Gracious Light" includes music by Hildegard of Bingen, Gregorian chant, polyphony by Dufay and anonymous early English composers.

Fantastic and fascinating!

Great sound and some imaginative work with organum set this women's ensemble apart from many chant recordings. A nice mix of polyphony and Gregorian. Highly recommended to all lovers of chant and medieval polyphony.
