Album Notes

J.B. Schwakter's songs are passionate pieces, rich with imagery, deft acoustic guitar work and haunting melodies.

Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, Prince, Greg Brown, Chris Whitley and Joseph Arthur are big influences and heroes.

Originally from Boston, singer-songwriter J.B. Schwakter currently resides in the Garden State. He has performed at The Flying Cloud Cafe, Fergie's Pub, The Fire, Steel City and the Bubba Mac Shack. JB opened for Sloan Wainwright in March 2005 in Margate, NJ at the Piping Plover Music series. He also opened for Erica Wheeler in April 2003. In July of 2003, he took part in a Philadelphia Songwriter's Project 'Philly Songwriters Live' event to a very enthusiastic response.

Schwakter recorded his debut album, 'Nine Songs,' in 2002.

In 2006, he may finish his next record, "Don't Leave Your Dreams Behind"; he hopes to.

About J.B. Schwakter:

"J.B. Schwakter's debut album is compelling, with strong vocals, clear and crisp guitar, and interesting songs. Steeped in Bob Dylan, Schwakter's music conveys an original sound. Recommended."

-- David Broida, Presenter, Concerts Under the Stars, King of Prussia, PA

"'Nine Songs' is one of the best independent releases to fall into my hands in 2002. Promising material, great musicians - Lou Reed meets Wilco. This is only the beginning for JB."

-- Nancy Falkow, singer-songwriter

"Schwakter's self-released Nine Songs is a fine collection of tracks...he's just as comfortable singing a country-like ballad ("Lonesome Violin," "Safe In My Heart") or a sunny soul tune ("Coming Round")."

--Steve Reynolds, Figgle.com
