notes

Eric Schwartz gets Bored Easily. After "Pleading the First: Songs My Mother Hates" tore it up in 2000, being named by Dr. Demento as one of the best "funny" records of the year, Schwartz turns around and records "Sunday Blue," a CD of ballads running the gamut from Jazz to Folk/Acoustic to Country.

Eleven Songs about the oldest subject in the world. A perfect antidote to "Pleading....," best listened to on a Sunday Morning, on the couch, mug in hand, or anytime you want to get a little closer to that someone special. Hehehehehehheehhe.

  • Gives incredible depth to the comic singer
    author: Vinnie

This album is a complete departure from Schwartz's other albums (notably his humorous cult hits like "Keep Your Jesus Off My Penis"). While the lyrics are hauntingly beautiful, what's perhaps most amazing about "Sunday Blue" is the range of styles and how well they work together. From the light pop '70s sound of "Is It Wrong" to the jazzy "Sunday Blue" to the country "Sweet Miss Jenny" to the a capella "You Don't Know Me" (the latter of which is one of THE most beautiful songs I've ever heard) every song on the album perfectly compliments the others. It's a mystery to me why Schwartz isn't famous -- this album proves without a doubt that he's oozing with talent that stretches far beyond writing perversely funny songs.

  • Eric is very talented and easy to listen to.

These songs are about love, romance and all the various emotions that seem to go with it. The lyrics are outstanding. The music is very, very good that compliments each song. You hear a lot of different instruments, saxophone, piano, 6 and 12 string guitars and more. This is a collection of songs that is good for anytime but perhaps best shared with one you love. I highly recommend it.

  • Very nice singing!

Honestly, I was expecting some novelty songs, like there was on Eric Schwartz's other CD's. Still, I was pleasantly surprized at how adept he is at other forms of music. If you like gentle ballads and easy-listening, this CD is wonderful!
