Album Notes

\"I think it’s a sense of urgency and youth coming through our music that has people drawn to these melodies.\" - Carter Francis

Cityscapes was a departure of sorts for Carter Francis and Bobby Martinez, who had been performing in and around the Austin, TX area for several years. Dreaming up rash guitar parts and filtering a consistent theme into what would become the first EP released by The Scotland Yard Sale took both artists by surprise. \"It wasn’t even something we consciously did,\" says Carter about the writing process of Cityscapes. \"Once the other members of the band jumped into the garage headfirst and all started writing their own parts… it just happened as naturally as it possibly could have.\" And so it was with the adoption of Josh Thompson, Ted McLean, and Robert Slater that The Scotland Yard Sale was born.

These are stories about people figuring out who they are. They are stories about friendships, lovers, trials, hope, and a bit of fantasy thrown in for good measure. They are songs about you. They are songs about a generation.

crank it up

This album has a nice mix for every discerning ear; as well a distinct concept that stays clean throughout. It starts and ends with a bang, crank this sh** up and sing it out.

a dialogue in often overlooked joys
author: arthur kendrick
This album makes me think of wild late nights swaying with friends, feasting on the warm air filled with hopes dreams and ambitions for the future. It's that girl you've always wanted to ask out that suddenly smiles at you from across the room. It's the afternoon breakfast with all your friends who were too drunk to drive home the night before. It's quiting your job and finding 40 dollars in your work pants. To sum it up it's everything you never expected but turns out to be exactly what you needed. You guys rock my socks off.
