Troika

Over a year ago, Ryan Hunt, Jennifer Jenkins and I started working on this massive project. In the recording studio (Frequency Studio) that Jen and I built together, we started collecting ideas for a recording that would express all of our eclectic styles and individual talents. We spent months experimenting with new sounds and new ways of presenting the material that we chose. Although there were many times when we wanted to tear our hair out when ideas that we wanted desperately to work crashed and burned, the majority of the experience was amazingly creative and productive.

I can't imagine undertaking this project without the two of them. Our hours and hours of time together formed a musical and personal bond that cannot be broken. We often commented about how our best ideas seemed to pour out in our studio, and how astonishing it was that things seemed to work out for the good of this project. It seemed as though it was really supposed to happen, and now, it has.

All of the tracks on this album were arranged by all three of us. Some were created by one more than the other, but the final product always included all three. And, five of the tracks are written by Ryan. His amazing sense of lyrics and musical personality drew me immediately to his talent the first time I met him. With his original music and arranging skills, and Jen's incomparable ear, musical genius and original ideas, we came up with a diverse sound that we hope you will enjoy.

The album is beautifully packaged in three panel "digipack" with gorgeous original artwork by Veijo Vilva specifically designed for this CD. He's an amazing artist living in Finland with a spectacular online gallery.

Biography

A native of Ohio, Mr. Ailing received his vocal training at Bowling Green State University. He performed several major works in the Ohio area, and was a featured soloist with the BGSU Men's Chorus, Toledo Opera, and with the Toledo Symphony. Since his move to New York City, Scott has continued his career performing a wide variety of music with emphasis on sacred works.

During 1998 and 1999, he was the featured soloist and Cantor of St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church (NYC) under the direction of Robert C. Levulis, as well as Choral Director at St. Jean Baptiste High School. He has also been a featured soloist with the Amor Artis Chorale, under the direction of Johannes Somary, with whom he toured Holland and France. He performed at such notable Cathedrals as The Westerkerk in Amsterdam, St. Bavo in Haarlem, The American Cathedral in Paris, La Trinite in Paris, and at the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris.

During July 2000, Mr. Ailing toured extensively throughout Italy performing with Director and Organist, Robert Levulis. They performed masses at The Vatican in Rome, St. Francis of Assisi in Assisi, and The Chiesa del Jesu in Rome.

In 2001, Mr. Ailing portrayed Herr Tanzmeister in the Singing Actor's Atelier production of "Ariadne auf Naxos." He was also the Cantor for the Columbus Day Mass from 2001 - 2003 at The Cathedral of St. Patrick in New York City.

Mr. Ailing continues to star in the production in which he made his Lincoln Center debut, "What's Opera, Doc?". The light-hearted spoof of opera which he co-wrote and co-directs is currently being toured around the United States.

Scott is also the recipient of the "2003 Nightlife Award" for "Outstanding Cabaret Piano Bar Performer".
