**************REVIEWS*************
\"Songwriter Scott Alan has put together a songbook CD with a little help from his friends ... The results are so much better than some of these amateurish Off-Broadway musicals that come along that one is at the same time heartened and disheartened. Two of the songs, \"Now\" (sung by Groff) and \"Never Neverland (Fly Away)\" (sung by Block) are in themselves good enough to warrant giving \"Dreaming Wide Awake\" a listen... Alan has a voice worth listening to, and he has done himself a favor by producing this sampler of his work to date.\"
-Steven Suskin, Playbill.com\'s \'On the Record\'
\"Scott (Alan) wears his heart on his sleeve - both sleeves - and it\'s a big heart; he expresses his feelings with unabashed emotion. Run for the hills if you don\'t like openness and open wounds in songs, but you\'ll be missing some of our best musical theater singers treating a skilled writer\'s work with care and matching his passion. It\'s undeniably exciting stuff ... \"Magic\" by Adriane Lenox is nicely calibrated in its build, and balances its projected feelings of uncertainty and determination, with strings and piano working in concert, too. Liz Callaway is, as usual, masterful in cutting to the core of a song (\"Goodnight\"), getting the sincerity and simplicity and avoiding any temptations of goo or overdoing. A hilarious number cut from Piece provides welcome comic relief for this album: \"At Seventeen\" looks at that age from the (counter)point of view of a teenager and a woman of 43 - Carly Jibson and Jackie Hoffman, respectively, each nailing it.
This 13-song collection has many gripping and touching moments. What could be considered the smallest moment is in some ways the most heartbreaking: Spring Awakening star Jonathan Groff is disarming in a two minute and 46 second song of reluctant goodbye to an ex-lover where the feelings about the break-up are still raw. He perfectly creates a believable guy reeling in the moments where one is in shock, in denial, and still in love. Eden Espinosa\'s \"I\'m a Star\" is bravura at its best - just delightful. On the more serious side, with songs that start tenderly and gather steam as the characters gather strength before coming down for satisfying cool-down conclusions, are two more standouts: on the subject of divorce, Danny Calvert on \"Kiss the Air\"; childhood longing in the very accomplished \"Never Neverland (Fly Away)\" by Stephanie J. Block ...Dynamite was never so heartfelt.\"

I absolutely LOVE Keys and Dreaming Wide Awake!! My friend showed me a youtube video of Natalie Weiss singing "I'm A Star" a while ago- and when I heard it I was so amazed. Scott Alan's music is so breathtaking. So amazing. Oh my goodness. Honestly- there isn't a song I don't like on either one of his CDs- and I can't wait to hear more of his music. Well done, Scott. Well done indeed.

"Keys" and "Dreaming Wide Awake"

My daughter (a Music Theatre student) sang two of Scott Alan's songs for me (I'm a Star and Never Neverland). I thought they were beautiful. I investigated and found Scott Alan's CDs to order. I thought I'd surprise her with them, but something told me to open them up when they arrived... I haven't stopped listening to them. I have cried, laughed, had goosebumps...they are amazing! From the songs to the singers, I haven't heard CDs this beautiful for years. I am so excited I want to tell everyone about this artist. I hope they will listen and that Scott Alan and the voices will have much success. My daughter will just have to wait to listen to them.

Candy For The Ear And The Heart!

Like many of those who have already reviewed the cd, I too was flipping through videos on youtube, and being a fan of Natalie Weiss, I stumbled upon a video of her singing "Quiet" and "I'm A Star"..and that led to Danny Galvert singing "Kiss The Air" and I was sold! The songs are so heartfelt and real that they just grabs you by the heart and makes you feel the words and melody. Its music that rich in feelings and lyrics that are based in reality and thus make them relatable. I think Scott Alan is a greatly talented Musician and Songwriter who is also very honest in his lyrics. We have all at some point lost a love dear to us, or had enough of the same tiresome life and changed it to something better.
these are things many writes songs about, but few does it better than Scott Alan! Thank you Scott for making music, and thank you CD-BABY for your delivery which was fast and safe considering I'm listening to it from some thousands of miles away in Norway. Thanks

This CD is beyond just entertaining. All the songs tell such a heart-wrenching story whether it's about living out a dream, holding on to a lost love, the beginning to an end, anything. It's on this CD. The whole reason I bought this CD (other than I do theatre) was Danny Calvert singing Kiss the Rain. Watch him on YouTube at the Birdland venue, and you will be absolutely blown away. After I got this CD I fell in love with all the songs though. It truly brings out so many different emotions. And thank you CDBaby for getting it to me so quickly and unharmed. Great service!
