ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Scott Bishop was born just before the legendary "Summer of '69" that Bryan Adams so eloquently sang about. He grew up in a little city in New Hampshire, ditched art in Savannah, GA in favor of songwriting, and eventually moved to Boston where he started Slippy Keane with his dear friend Sean Hennessey and drummer Josh Pickering. He's continued in bands and on his own since.

New Lights is his first solo record, issued by Hide Your Candy in April 2009. A 12 song recovery program for the broken-hearted, New Lights features appearances by Denis Saulnier of The Electric City and Erich Groat of Baby Ray.

Great Subtext
Interesting clash between the music and the subtext of the lyrics. Scott finds the delicate line of balance between the two. Strong sense of humor many times in the manner in which the song's point unfolds. Recorded in an old-school fashion reminiscent of say Sugar or Husker-Du where the music is first created and worked out and then recorded. Wonder how this would pop in say a Pro-tools or Ableton Live layering of sound on the fly! Love the Dinner songs and Blind Spot and there's some rockers in there too. Good Stuff!
