Album Notes

This debut album is a coming-of-age story about myself. Not only does it archive my personal growth (many of these songs were written when I was in high school, spanning up to my early adulthood), but it represents my growth as a musician as well. For instance, "Dating Your Skeleton" was the first song I ever wrote (excluding my ridiculous childhood ditties, of course), and was created within a mere month of learning how to play the accordion. Other songs include various capstones of my life, such as my first real gay relationship, coming to terms with my body and self-image, boyhood crushes, religious oppression, and the realization of how flawed our society is. Each song is extremely personal, and therefore many of them involve somewhat enigmatic or symbolic imagery; at that time I was uncomfortable presenting such tender aspects of myself to the world (my later albums get progressively more straight-forward), but hopefully they can inspire a meaningful interpretation for you.
