Album Notes

Among the new generation of smart, sophisticated New York songwriters, Scott Evan Davis has emerged as one of the most promising, with a voice all his own. This debut studio recording of twelve songs, arranged and produced by David Snyder, features some of the brightest stars from Broadway, including Faith Prince (Guys and Dolls / Bells Are Ringing); Liz Callaway (Merrily We Roll Along / Baby); Jason Graae (Ragtime / Falsettos); Daniel Reichard (Jersey Boys); Nikki Renee Daniels (Porgy and Bess); and Lisa Howard (Spelling Bee). Joined by veteran cabaret performers Julie Reyburn, Natalie Douglas, Jon Philip Alman, Nicole Johndrow and Joshua Dixon, they sing songs of deep emotion, abiding love, cynical humor, lost innocence, and acceptance.

From NYC’s “Cabaret Hotline” review of THE MUSIC OF SCOTT EVAN DAVIS: In Concert at BIRDLAND -

“Scott Evan Davis' music is complex and adult. It's exciting and dramatic and takes you to places you didn't expect to go, a journey through sophisticated meter, melody and lyric... This is smart music that taps into some very deep emotional wells. Many of the lyrics give the impression of moving forward, of acceptance - but also reveal sadness, anger and disillusionment... Davis seems to open himself up - complete with heart on sleeve and guts exposed... These singers probably sensed that they were getting in on the ground floor with a composer whose career may well soar - and many in the audience sensed the same thing - including myself.” - Mona Finston
