Album Notes

Travels is the second songwriting album by composer and songwriter Scott Lamps.

Less is more, and Lamps proves it once again with his simplicity and directness on Travels. His confident baritone carries the songs, backed only by his evocative piano playing. The melancholy “Those Days” is full of sorrow and struggle, while the whimsical “LA” is playful and proud of it. “Cannon Loose” thunders along like its title suggests, and the title track rambles like a Bob Dylan word poem. Through it all, Lamps’ voice reassures and reminds us that we are in skilled hands.

Lamps has been making waves in the Midwest with his stark and poignant melodies. Some may know him best from his work writing music for film or the stage, but his sense of melodic development is unmistakable no matter the medium. An advocate of creativity and individuality, Lamps’ music speaks for itself.

“Creativity and imagination are fundamental to what it means to be human.” –Scott Lamps
