Scott P./ Scott Puopolo: From Surf Drive to Sin City
It's probably not very important who Scott Puopolo is, who he has played with, or where he came from. It is only important whether his brand of hard rocking music "hits you where you live." You know, whether it moves you physically, emotionally or both. Only when you listen to the tracks from the CD will you know for sure. However, for those of you who want to know more, read on.
On From Surf Drive to Sin City, Scott Puopolo's music rocks like the Smithereens, crawls through the swamp like Seven Mary Three, and sticks in your head like Nirvana or the Meat Puppets. On this first solo release, Puopolo performs all of the vocals, lead and rhythm guitars, bass guitars, percussion and keyboards.
Scott's musical history is extensive and varied. Starting his professional music career in 1978, at 15, Scott played drums and sang for North Coast Limited, one of the Boston area's pre-eminent cover bands in the late 70's and early 80's. In the 1980's, he was drummer, vocalist and one of the primary songwriters for Off the Kuff, The Mirror Image, and The Rhythm Method, often sharing the bill with Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello and Semisonic's Dan Wilson. While with the Rhythm Method, which went on to win the Eveready Rock and Roll Challenge as the best unsigned college band in the country, Scott's band mate was Warren Hill on the saxophone, a significant success in the Jazz world.
In recent times, Scott Puopolo has relocated to New York City, and occasionally performs live, most recently at the Hudson Theatre along the "Great White Way."
Puopolo is releasing his first solo album and hopes that it will "hit you where you live." Only you will know for sure. Listen to the CD.
