Album Notes

There’s a certain soulful quality to bluegrass music that some people feel you have to be born with. It’s something that just can’t be manufactured by the music industry. Certain artists come by that gift naturally. Scott Partridge is one of those artists and it’s readily evident on every song of his new self-titled disc.
A job in Los Angeles left Scott homesick and creatively chafing at the bit. Partridge returned to Nashville, bought a log cabin in the woods and set about making music again. The result is an album that combines the bluegrass and country influences that have shaped Partridge’s unique artistry. With a distinctive voice that combines classic country phrasing with that high lonesome sound that defines the best in bluegrass, Partridge breathes life into an engaging collection of tunes.
Partridge is joined on this musical outing by some of the most acclaimed musicians in bluegrass music. Rob McCoury, a member of the Del McCoury Band—nine time winners of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s entertainer of the year accolade—lends his talents on banjo. Ward Stout co-produces and plays fiddle. Dave Peterson adds harmony. Also joining Scott is newcomer Natalie Sanders on a great duet.
The project reflects a lifetime of musical experience from an artist whose passion for traditional music permeates every cut. Though the album contains compelling renditions of some of bluegrass and country’sbest-loved tunes, the project also showcases Partridge’s songwriting talents. “Workin’ Man’s Hands,” written by Partridge, Russ Roberts, and Ed Lassan, is a tribute to a hard working man who loved his wife and family beyond measure. Another standout track, co-written by Partridge is “Father Time,” a beautiful love song that boasts an ear-catching melody and heartfelt lyric.

This is an awesome sound and I love the Hits! and i even enjoyed the seeing some familiar names on this site. Scott Partridge & Roger Gilliam on the same page in 2009. Very Cool ... You two may remember some cousin of mine that I used to run around with and was inspired to run out and purchase a 28 piece TAMA cage drum kit. Ronnie Earley is my cousin and I have a few Fire Ball Express albums sitting over there next to the turn-table. I showed my other cousin Steve Earley this site, he used to play in a band out at the old Savona Rod & Gun and local bars with his brother Mike Earley ... Just thought i would stop and say howdy and I sure love the album! AL Beasley

Howdy folks. I had the honor of playing some great music with Scott in New York in the mid eighty's, after moving to Corning from the Northwest. I joined the band Scott was in, "Fireball Express", and played guitar and fiddle. What a band!! Lot's of good music, and lot's of fun doing it with a great bunch of guys. Listening to Scott play and sing was a special treat for me. After playing in bands across the country for many years, I knew early on that Scott was destined for more than he was doing at the time I met him. He is one of the most versatile musicians I have ever met, and puts his soul into everything he plays and sings. I left New York after a few years and moved back to the northwest. I got a call one night from Scott, after six years, and he told me he was in Nashville. I had a feeling that he was on to something good, and was finally on the right track. We kept in touch, and years later after I moved (again) to Arizona, Scott sent me a copy of his first CD. The songs touched me deeply. I'm a country boy from the mountains of Virginia, and the CD has greatly influenced my playing. My wish is that some day I will get another chance to play with him again. Great Job buddy! I'm looking forward to future CD's!
