The original music of Scott Wilson, performed on authentic instruments of the Mid-East. Instrumentation includes the exotic sounds of the oud, saz, bouzoukie, and kanun.
This unique album is inspired by a lifetime of devotion to the music of the Mid-East.
Back in 1959 when I was five years old, my mother, the famous belly dancer, Serena used to bring me with her to the Egyptian Gardens nightclub. She performed there every night in the heart of “Greektown” on 8th Ave, NYC. I was fascinated with the music of the oud, kanun, and bouzouki (the instruments of the mid-East). I now work for the department of tourism in Ankara, Turkey, performing and singing popular and classical Turkish music, and recording new music.
The songs on this album are written from many memories of trips to Turkey, performing in the states at countless weddings, and memories of the "hippie" era of the '60's...
