‘Keeping in the tradition of Classic Country and Country Blues Scottylee’s “Just A Stranger” tells the story of a man and a woman, love lost and love won. As would be expected the songs run the emotional gamut from desire to depression and finally moving on. Stylistically diverse yet cohesive, the story is told as the songs unfold. The instrumentals which highlight Scottylee’s fingerpicking chops provide a segue for the passage of time like set changes between acts of a play. One of the bonus tracks “Out Of My Life” features the song played with accompaniment in a traditional Nashville style successfully showing the ease with which these songs work here. When viewed as a whole Scottylee’s “Just A Stranger” is a well conceived and well performed concept album. When heard separately the songs on this CD stand just as well on their on.’
