Album Notes

"You Need an Attitude to Rock 'n' Roll"
"This is just what the doctor ordered, to cure those mid-winter blues. These songs are straightforward, simplistic, and unpretentious. You have gotta have that corner of your CD collection; you know, the one with AC/DC, and THE CULT, THE RAMONES etc. The ROCKING SCOUNDRELS take retro seriously (or not) and give you slices of neo-classics to bop to. With songs like "Once a Rocker Always a Rocker", and 'Drive-by-Bootie" can you really go wrong?"
- Peacedogman.com

“The Rocking Scoundrels sound as if they were one of the great ’60s garage-band’s plucked from Hollywood youth cinema of the day. The pulsebeat and unrestricted singing gives charge to songs of personal freedom and social revolt. It makes me wish that films like The Cool Ones, The Trip and Riot on Sunset Strip were still being made. The Rocking Scoundrels would find their perfect foil amongst such coolness.”
- Brian Chidester (Freelance journalist & documentary filmmaker)

"The Scoundrels were once again, unleashing a show that would energize both the hardcore and mainstream rock scenesters. Their sound soars above the predictable mainstream punk and/or rock and delivers us from the presumptuous into another dimension"
- All Access Magazine

"This is one seriously cool band, no qualifiers, just cool!"
"Take no prisoners rock and roll...awesome guitar riffs, too"
"The guitar player rocks, the drums thunder their way through, and the vocals kill"
- MSN discussion group the "WORLD OF ROCK 'N' ROLL"

Is this a parody or something completely serious? This is the question the Rocking Scoundrels' mischievous release You Need an Attitude to Rock 'n' Roll raises. With a humorous album cover, a cartoon of the band as a swinging psychedelic 60's group, and a star containing the phrase, "Play Loud!," it's no wonder the group seems to have its tongue firmly in cheek. Evoking AC/DC, with heavy drum beats and bass lines by DarrentheDrummer and Brian "Chewy" James, speedy arpeggio guitar solos from Dave Haynes, and raspy but striking vocals by Dave Haynes and Brian "Chewy" James, the Rocking Scoundrels demonstrate authentic musicianship and an obvious and sincere appreciation and love for rock 'n' roll. The rock 'n' roll motif pervades the entire album as each song "discusses" a different aspect of rock 'n' roll music, what it means to be a rocker, and how to live as a rocker. The release's comedy lies in the excessiveness of its rock 'n' roll theme, with song titles like "You Need an Attitude to Rock 'n' Roll," the title track, "Once a Rocker Always a Rocker," "Rock 'n' Roll Girlfriend," and "Rock 'n' Roll Sleigh Ride." The stereotypical rock 'n' roll song focus on rock 'n' roll life hardships and heartbreaks is condensed into the Scoundrels' tunes, "Dead of Night," "Wrong Side of the Moon," "Tijuana Hell," "Dirty Booze," "I Can't Survive," "Happy Dog," and "Drive by Booty." The Rocking Scoundrels is a trio dedicated to showing audiences on You Need An Attitude to Rock 'n' Roll that rock 'n' roll music and everything else rock 'n' roll are topics worth rocking 'n' rolling about. If fun, funny, and fantastic rock 'n' roll is what you seek, check out the Rocking Scoundrels on www.rockingscoundrels.com for more music and band information.
