Album Notes

Scream Sophie has become synonomous with melodic hard rock music. Never a band to follow a trend, the band combines various elements of old school hard rock with new, alternative-influenced sounds of today. Infectiously heavy melodic rock music is a fairly accurate statement! Is this CD for you? Are you kidding? This CD is so for you that it secretly freaks you out! Tired of cast-and-die cut bands, the latest teen diva, and sterile technorock? Good! You've found the right band!

Scream Sophie originated as a recording project late in 1999 when guitarist and songwriter Curt Granger began writing and recording new material. Shortly after beginning the project he enlisted the help of drummer, and recently turned-vocalist/guitarist Timmi 'G' Ward. The two forged a strong songwriting alliance and the Scream Sophie machine was born.

With melodically rich, heavy tracks like "Everyday," "Alive," and "Black Cloud," the band delivers their trademark riff-heavy sound once again on "Secrets in a Jar." There's also a few introspective tracks such as the bittersweet, laid back acoustic stylings on "Half the Way" and the super-radio friendly heayy pop track "Breathe." Paying tribute to some of their influences, the band closes the disk with the fun yet sophisticated tune "Love's Too Hard," evoking early images of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Throughout the Beatlesque chorus, the love song is dreamy and comfortably familiar, but with a tangle of individual rock and roll affliction.

Scream Sophie continues to unleash their live show on more-than-willing audiences, and are steadily gaining recognition both regionally and internationally, via radio play, heavy internet marketing, and touring. A growing fan base, pure determination, and a love of the music is what drives this band to perfection and the quest to expose their musical vision to the world.

Awesome band that should put out more music. All the tracks are REAL rock. Tight grooves, super vocals/melody, massive low end, and awesome guitar playing. Should be in everyone's collection!

Awesome Hard Rock CD!

I listen to a lot of music, both by major label bands and indies alike, and Secrets in a Jar is a jewel of a find! I was hooked (no pun intended) from the catchy opening track, and was singing along by the end. The rest of the songs are really well-written and performed too - no "filler" here! The range of sounds from song to song is a very refreshing change from most CDs that sound like 10 identical tracks. My hats off to the band for an awesome CD! Good luck in your musical endeavors guys!

Scream Sophie weaves the past into modern day rock angst.
author: Stanley J. Holditch

Original in sound with strains of post-Grunge frivolity mixed in with current musical trends, it’s not hard to recognize strains of early STP, shades of Bush and yes, a dash of Creed. But don’t let that sway you: strong guitar riffs and bits of heavy metal thrashing will keep all you rockers happy. With tracks like "Caged" and "Half the Way" evoking heralded images of love gone wrong or gaffes of misguided youth, Scream Sophie weaves the past into modern day rock angst. Although the sound is at times familiar, the lyrics are fresh. Besides, these are precisely the things labels look for when signing new bands. In the final track, "Love’s Too Hard," evokes early images of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and throughout the Beatle-esque chorus, the love song is dreamy and comfortably familiar, but with a tangle of individual rock and roll affliction.

There are several very memorable hooks and the musicians all play really well together. My husband thinks so too! Congratulations for making a wonderful CD that really rocks!
