Album Notes

This is the third CD by the Solomon Douglas Swingtet. While the previous two recordings showcased many facets of the Swingtet's repertoire, for this one they have chosen to focus on a narrow slice of musical history: the years 1928 through 1941. Recorded in Montreal recording studio in December of 2009, the band on this album had just finished an intense two-week tour of the East Coast and was tighter and more swinging than ever before!

Refreshing, bright, clear

This music is refreshing, bright, clear, energizing versions of the wonderful classics.   I love the tight group with complex arranging but clear solos.  The clarinet sensually bending notes, little bright surprise lilts and riffs.  This is not only dance music but motivating music which can bring sunshine into any work place!  I am buying more CDs to share with my friends!
