Album Notes

Seafood Hotline began in November 2003 with simple intentions. The band, Joe Leslie and Brian Hongsermeier both worked for a small Italian restaurant in downtown Murfreesboro, TN., where their relationship began through hurried yet enthusiastic discussions on the validity of star wars physics and the decline of heavy metal music (Metallica didn’t always suck). In a town full of musical ideology and several cliques to choose from, Joe and Hong felt comfortable enough with each other to put down their air instruments and spatulas and agree to drink beer and pound out the aggressions of middle class servitude.
Joe was a transplant of Minden, La., who cut his teeth playing bars since his high school days. His priors included a broad range of style, from the quirky experimentations of Penelope Cheese, to the power trio climate of We Eat Vultures.
Hong’s musical birth came to fruition after high school in Nashville, TN., when he moved to Murfreesboro and began demolishing his double bass pedal in break neck trucker metal outfits including Third Degree Burnout and Lopan.
It was an odd pairing, but one that worked. Within two weeks of practice at a friend’s log cabin in the nearby hills of Woodbury, TN., it became apparent that the duo’s love for eclectic musical trajectory and sincere songwriting could be molded into their own style of anthem..
The Hotline has recently recorded their first release within the hundred year old walls of the restaurant where they first met. The session yielded eight tracks of various genre that were masterfully produced and mixed by Kris White of the mighty Juan Prophet Organization.
The band has a current catalogue of over forty songs and looks forward to recording several more albums, touring extensively, and collecting as many soup recipes as possible.
