Sometimes hope lurks behind the pain of grief. Sometimes joy exists in simple pleasures. Sometimes dreams come true. During each of these moments, God is there.
Sean Clive explores these themes in his recently released debut album, Tuning Up. His original acoustic songs as well as his covers of contemporary Christian composers reveal the healing and awe inspiring presence of God amidst simple joys and tragic circumstances. His album includes a special tribute to his mother, Linda, who died of breast cancer in 1997. She was a source of inspiration for both his singing and his faith. The song, It Takes a Little Rain, speaks of how in order to appreciate the "sun" or joy in life, we must also experience the "rain" or sadness that life brings.
Blending contemporary acoustic and liturgical music, Sean evokes a tangible expression of the power of God's love. The range in Sean's musical style corresponds with the variety of ways in which humans encounter God. In concert, both Sean's original songs, as well as his versions of popular, contemporary artists such as Joel Hanson of PFR, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Steve Angrisano, Joe Hand, David Haas and Michael Card, offer insight into the healing influence of faith in God during life's struggles.
"I've been told the best way to enjoy my music is to sit down with a good cup of coffee and reflect on the meaning. That makes me happy. It is rewarding when I hear that my music has touched someone's heart, helping them connect with their emotions and their faith."
A member of the Catholic Association of Musicians (founded by John Michael Talbot), Sean performs in a variety of venues ranging from Catholic liturgies to ecumenical coffeehouses and other events. He enjoys bringing the message of hope and love to the listener, with a spirit of inclusion and personal sharing of God's blessings. He has performed in many settings around central New York and he is looking forward to a number of upcoming engagements. Sean's, Fountain of You, has received radio airplay in Christian radio programs in the area and in other states.
With the release of his debut album, Tuning Up, Sean hopes to inspire others to deepen their faith. The sincerity of his vocals highlights Sean's genuine desire to serve God through his music. Sean's experience as a choir director for St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Chadwicks, as well as his involvement with an acapella college group, influence the variety of music he performs. Likewise, Sean's original music conveys his intimate reflections on common struggles, such as coping with the loss of a loved one, as well as his sincere appreciation for the beauty of God's creation. "I really hope the songs will speak to the heart of the hurting, the struggling and the seeking."
Sean looks forward to sharing his music and message with the world. "My desire is to follow this calling as far as God wants me to go."
Sean lives with his wife and two daughters in Central New York where they enjoy singing, playing tickle monster, telling stories, hiking, and dancing to Lawrence Welk on Saturdays.

A wonderful treat...

I must admit that I think that Sean Clive made this cd just for me. No, I never met him, but it's as if he called me up and asked me what my favorite songs were and put them on this cd. I LOVE the easy listening, reflective, acoustic quality of many songs. His voice is very soothing, and listening to this cd makes me smile. His original songs are wonderful, too. And if this cd sounds like something you would enjoy, do yourself a real favor and treat yourself to his Advent cd- Peace on Earth. WOW! I have been playing it since I got it...and it is only September...
