Album Notes

"Sean Wiggins, a centered and attention-grabbing, blue eyed, soul diva", is how she's been described, but there's much more. As an artist, Wiggins is making waves! Sean was first place winner in the Billboard Song Contest, 2002, for her song, "No Difference". She also has a song, "Jane and the Goats", which is currently featured on the critically acclaimed and award winning indie film, "God, Sex, and Apple Pie". In addition, in January 2002, Wiggins song styling was featured on MTV's hit night drama, "MTV Undressed".

Sean has been touring the country in support of her last 2 solo releases, "1000 Steps" and "Next Time Around", sharing the bill with such artists as Cyndy Lauper, Sophie B Hawkins, Jill Sobule, Pepper Mashay, Billie Myers, Patrice Pike, Melissa Ferrick, and Julia Fordham. She has performed in large music festivals such as Chicago's Market Days, which hosts 350,000 people, along with clubs and festivals in New York City, Atlanta, Seattle, San Francisco, Baltimore, Boston and many more. Of course she has played venues all over Southern California, including clubs such as The Roxy, The Gig and The Troubadour. Wiggins has graced the stage of the Houston Women's Festival for 2 years in a row, Eddies Attic in Atlanta, and often returns to the Windy City with Linda Moss (harmonica) to play such clubs as The Hard Rock Café and The House of Blues, along with other local venues. In New York City, she has even played the renowned CBGB's Gallery.

Sean has been playing colleges all over Southern Cal and has received local and national radio play as well as international and national Internet play. She has been featured on various cable shows all over Southern California, as well as all over the New York City area. She is currently selling CDs through Borders Books, Goldenrod Music, Amazon.com and Cdbaby.com.

Recent reviews of Sean's latest CD said:
"Apparently someone got a bit experimental in the chem lab and mixed the DNA of Janis Joplin and Melissa Etheridge." - Jennifer Layton, Indie-Music.com

Music Connection said, "Wiggins could easily be misidentified as a simple singer/songwriter, but what she does is so much more. She actually takes you into her world and makes you feel right at home... never predictable or boring."

Album Network says, " Sean Wiggins, whose powerful vocals easily recall the best qualities of Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge and Sass Jordan..."

"Wiggins offers up a delicious collection of beautiful and bittersweet songs on "Next Time Around." Inspired by past relationships, Wiggins delivers her poetic message of life, love and heartbreak in her lovely soulful vocal style complimented by her incredible guitar playing." - Deborah Keith, GoGirlsMusic.com

Simply Amazing!
author: Steve
In her title track, Sean sings that she "wanted to be Celine Dion" but didn't have the "chops". I have to say I strongly disagree with her self analysis - She can (and should) sing rings around Celine. I lucked onto this album while browsing, and after listening to one or 2 samples I knew I would be buying it. I freely admit to having almost no female singers on my list of favorite performers, but Sean just went to the top of that list. In the 2 weeks I have had her album, and out of the thousands of songs I have available at my fingertips, it is her music I am singing while I drive, and listening to at every chance I get. I can't wait to introduce friends and family members to this amazing artist and album! Well done, Sean! Thanks for enriching my life with your music!

Sean excels with new styles
author: Jerry Gilio
Sean Wiggins has come up with another strong album with "I Gotta Be Me". She mixes familiar styles from her earlier work with some interesting new ideas. Songs like "Mercury In Retrograde" and "I Gotta Be Me" shine with the same catchy tunes and crisp narratives Wiggins has offered in the past. But "Lucky In Love" has a definite country and western twang. "Place In My Heart" would fit right in on a Bruce Sprinsteen or John Mellencamp album. Sean also uses more complex arrangements on this album. There are harmonies that sound incredible. The mixes keep her vocals are out front, so you can hear her thoughtful lyrics, but the other elements, like the mandolin and cello, are clear and effective. Linda Moss returns with a harmonica that's hard to ignore. "Anyway It Happens" is so beautiful it gives me the chills. I'm not usually much for love songs, but it strikes an incredible balance between affection, love, lust and obsession. She never ceases to amaze me with her talent for complex, compelling melodies. Then, just a few tracks later, she does it all again on "Remember Spring"! There are some live song introductions by Sean, but this isn't a live album. It's all studio tracks. This album is solid evidence that Sean Wiggins is getting better all the time.
