poo at the zoo? hooray for drew!
author: djrooker
not only are these songs fresh, poetic and thoroughly enjoyable to sing along to, they are filled with an undercurrent of political awareness and social goodness that will stimulate both children and adults alike. this is definitely a children's songbook in the traditional sense: the songs are filled with entertaining anecdotes, alter-ego imaginations, and informative, but not sermonizing, life lessons. but don't be fooled into thinking that these are simple-minded children's songs. there is much more going on here. this is art as it was intended to be: revolutionary.
of course, children will enjoy the sing-song lyrical phrasing and pop-folk musical hooks of these original and organic compositions, and adults will notice and appreciate songs that speak to the importance of fulfilling and living an honest and principled life. years from now, the children who have been exposed to these songs will marvel at their willingness to stand up to the prejudices and inequities that will most likely taunt them. and adults will look back with pride for having advocated and exposed themselves and their children to such high art.
thanks, drew, for your thoughtful and beautiful contribution to the world.
