Album Notes

“The making of The Crossroads Faire moved me to musical progress, pushed for my instrumental skill, and made a great dynamic with fellow musicians in the studio.” Melanie writes. She recalls, “My favorite thing about this album, for sure, is the way my original songs have turned out. ‘Trowel in One Hand’, ‘Irish Fire’--they're really being presented with the same quality and amount of feeling I wrote them with. Bringing in the flute in "Trowel" and the piano in "Seasons Rising" really sparks that pride in what I can do and what my fellow musicians and producer have done.”

A gifted young singer/songwriter, Melanie captures her audience with her vibrant charm and remarkable vocals. A folk artist with a strong taste for the British Isles, Melanie’s influences range from the traditional tunes of England and Ireland to the Indigo Girls and Flogging Molly thanks to her family who helped instill a love of all things musical in her from a young age. Melanie believes very firmly that everyone should sing along, even if they don’t know all the words.

An up and coming Bard

I've been waiting so long for this CD -- had previewed 4 of the songs on MySpace after finding her through Flynn's Folly. Was not disappointed by the rest of the album. Melanie has a wonderful clear voice, she plays well, and she writes songs that are worth listening to again and again. Some have humor, some have suspense and chills -- all are memorable. I'll be recommending this to many.

A delightful CD! You will find yourself swaying to the slower songs and tapping your feet to the faster ones. So, grab some Shepherd's Pie, sit back, listen to the lovely lass's voice and the beautiful music accompanying her. You will be singing along before you realize it. (But don't sing with your mouth full of Shepherd's Pie) I love the entire CD but Seasons Rising, track 8, Fortunate, track 9 and The Irish Medley of Epic Proportions, track 13 are my most favorite. Track 13 makes me laugh each time I hear it. LOL Way to go, Season's Melody!

A delightful performer that we first heard at the Scarborough Faire this spring. We liked her so much that we made a second trip of 200 miles to buy her cd. It was worth the trip.

A lovely, fresh voice

A real treat for anyone who enjoys pure folk music. Melanie's voice is beautifully flexible, and she masters the gamut of styles from whimsy ("Fortunate") to wistfulness ("Season's Rising"), and all points in between with a freshness that will make you listen to old favorites with a new appreciation. Clear vocals and beautiful guitar accompaniment make this album one you will want to play again and again. Highly recommended.
