Album Notes

Songs from this album have been featured in seasons 3 and 4 of Nickelodeon's Zoey 101 and season 4 of Drake and Josh, and were recently placed in another show called iCarly. All songs are also available on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and most other major online music stores.

Secondhand has appeared on television for Friday Night Jam on Madison’s WB57 and for the local music show Urban Theater on UPN-15. Secondhand’s music was featured on the “Radar Report” on XM Radio’s Unsigned Channel 43 and several local radio programs in Madison and Milwaukee. Secondhand also opened for several national acts, including Local H, Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root and up-and-coming rock band The Whigs.

Jake Shimon is a 25-year old singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who records and performs rock-based pop songs. His pop singer/songwriter sound falls somewhere between John Mayer and Jack Johnson, but with a more alternative-pop style like Ben Folds. His voice and singing style reveal his strong rock foundation from an extensive education by the likes of Scott Weiland, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Dave Grohl, and Eddie Vedder. When you add in Shimon's biggest influence, the experimental rock/jazz/pop music of Soul Coughing and voice of Mike Doughty, what you get are catchy, dynamic pop-rock songs with relevant lyrics and memorable melodies. Check out his MySpace at the link below.

All you need is one hit to make a spectacular impression. I believe this album has at least 3: DOWN AGAIN, ANYMORE, and QUESTIONABLE WEATHER. This is still a very young group. With the creative and driven Jake Shimon at the helm, it will be interesting to see where this group goes.

Wow! This CD certainly got my attention from the first note of the first track. Really catchy song writting and sound through out the entire album. Every song is unique, all the hooks hit hard, and I can't emphasize enough how original these guys sound. Definately pick this one up while it's still in stock. Highlights: "In The Wake," "Forever," "Desire"

Incredable CD, full of energy... iresistably catchy. Great musicianship combined with great songwriting. Highlights are "Down Again", "Anymore", and "Maybe Tommorow". But the whole CD is really quite excellent.
