This album was the first recorded EP from Second Stint as a five piece. We had just added two guitars to our sound, and the lead singer had switched from playing guitar to strictly singing. The album focuses on several issues. The first song "Carpathia" is titled after the ship who came to the rescue of the Titanic, but arrived too late. Its a metaphor for life and finding your path without being overly concerned for the consequences. The second song "Day of Emergency" needs no explanation. It was written about the events leading up to, and as a result of, 9/11. The third song "Threshold" focuses on our exploitation of environmental resources and how we are nearing a bring of self-destruction. The fourth song "The Day You Lost Me" is about the moment when a past relationship becomes just that, a thing of the past. Many feelings are left behind, including the compassion and emotion associated with the individual. The fifth song "Not Your Fault" is about suicide and letting go of life on your own terms.
