Album Notes

Nashville, Tennesee's most popular Celtic band, THE SECRET COMMONWEALTH describes its particular take on Celtic and folk music as "Celto-eclectic". In addition to a wealth of bawdy drinking songs, haunting ballads, and instrumentals learned from the cultures of Ireland and Scotland, The Secret Commonwealth also performs many original compositions. The group has successfully combined styles as diverse as Swedish folk, bluegrass, blues, French folk, Hungarian folk, rock and roll, and Appalachian folk.
Their debut album "The Secret Commonwealth" was recorded in 3 days in true hit-and-run, low-fi fashion, and collected the most popular tunes from their live shows. The second album, "The Uninvited Guest" was a far more ambitious and experimental project, consisting of nearly all original songs about Halloween, ghosts, and other haunting subjects.
Following the death of founding member Jack Hunter Daves, Jr., The Secret Commonwealth went on hiatus in 2003, but regrouped in 2007 with an exciting new lineup. They are now recording their third CD, to be released in the Summer of 2008.
