You'll scratch your head at the simplicity of this album.
Where most folks say, " I can't remember jokes ", Sé shows " you gotta write 'em down ".
" Stuff 'im " is a one of a kind recording; 45 minutes of pure and simple, straight up Irish jokes, mostly all hilarious; lets face it, where would we be without a good groaner.
The jokes on this album have been around for a long time. Se's dad fell out of the cradle laughing at most of them, or so he said. I think it was that time when he was trying to get him to leave him in peace.
Sé was born in Dublin in the late 40's. He grew up watching comedians like Hal Roach and Maureen Potter in the Gaiety, Royal, and Abbey theaters at Sunday matinees. His parents took him to these shows almost every Sunday afternoon.
His music hall / theater experiences as a youngster left a lasting impression on him. Ever since, he's been involved with performance of one kind or another. ( Aren't we all ? )
Stuff 'Im is a studio recording to a backdrop of Irish céilí music by the Just Because Band, with Sé on mandolin, during a winter season of céilís which the band organized and hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The music lends a nice ambiance to the overall effect.
Sé worked up these jokes just months prior to these céilí evenings, using them on stage during breaks between dancing sets. After the season was over he recorded a selection of the best jokes, more for posterity than for publication. The recording was done at Blue Wave Studios in Vancouver and later the music of the Just Because Band was added during the mastering.
All of which, as you can understand, leaves you, the listener, on your own. There is no canned laugh track here, and no live audience. It's just you, your self and the joker, alone together; but in an honest kind of way. Of course, you could listen with a friend and both have a bit of gas, as we used to say.
Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy.

This album is full of great, home-spun tales abut the misadventures of way more then just Murphy and Flanagan. You'll hear the one about the Enlgishman, Scotsman and Irishman at the Olympics, the Father and the three closing- time drunks, the dead Catholic dog, the doctor, and many other amusing, folksy characters. The comedy, (not to mention Se's accent) is great, and the backround music from Se's band (in which he plays mandolin), is very catchy, but album seems to be lacking a stucture-Se' goes from telling one story to the next with no apprent segway in between. Kind of choppy, but the delivery of the stories is superb. I highly recomend this album for St. Patrick's Day, or anytime those of you Celtic wish to get in touch with your heritage, or if you're not Celtic, and you enjoy funny stories. Any way you slice it, this album is for you.
