Album Notes

Seed is an alternative rock/worship band based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The band has been around since 1996 playing a variety of venues including concert halls, coffee houses, church worship services, youth events and other Evangelical outreach events. The band has opened for National and International artists such as Circadian Rhythm, T-Bone, Noel Richards and Justin McRoberts. Their songs have received airplay on KSFM, 100.7 FM, The Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area and the band has appeared live on the radio numerous times.

Seed was founded by singer/songwriter Chris McCooey when he was the worship leader at his church in Berkeley, CA. Guitarist Zhalie Nienu joined the worship band and he and Chris became friends and musical partners. Seeking an outlet for the original songs he was writing for worship services, Chris invited Zhalie to form Seed. The rest of the current lineup came on board between 2000 and 2001, starting with drummer Luis Pereira who was downloaded from the internet, bassist Joel Tacorda, who arrived in a state of chronic pogo and guitarist David Guadarama who just kind of walked in one day.

The band's songs have a rhythmic, alternative edge, with a lyrical, melodic sensibility. Lyrical themes range from exploration of the human condition to revelation of the Living God...from stories about us to praise for Him. In live settings, Seed's performances range from hard driving, passionate songs to intimate times of praise and worship.

Each member of Seed shares an enthusiasm for creating original music and performing as well as a deep commitment to Jesus Christ and love for praise and worship. The members of Seed have many years experience as worship leaders in addition to experience in original music contexts as performers and recording artists.

I only gave 3 stars instead of 4 because this isn't really my style of music. But, I saw Seed play a while back and I was truly inspired. These guys rock with abandon, take no prisoners, and it's all for Jesus. Rock On!!!

I saw seed perform at the Marin County Fair courtesy of the Bridge Radio. The energy and the Spirit in which they play is nothing short of engaging. I found this cd even took me away from work while I had started as background. The tempo and feel of the tunes makes ya move! The lyrics are real life expressions that are about real life relationship between the band members and their God. A sort of cross between the Psalms and the Gospels. A sharing of life and the solution that they have found in Him, Jesus. Rock on the Solid Rock and you will never be washed away!
