The first release by the classical, dark electro unit comprised of countertenor Selia and DJ SiSeN. Selia's beautiful vocals entrance all who listen and SiSeN's amazing spin skill creates a stimulating and mysterious atmosphere on the dance floor, combining to entice you into the deepest darkness of a world of dark aesthetic illusion. They began performing experimental live shows in 2005 with some music composed by KALM (ex-VELVET EDEN), attracting attention as they sought to create a fusion of opera and electro sounds. They have performed at several events in countries around the world, including France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Finland, England, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Russia.

A SENSATIONAL SPIN OF ELECTRO-SYNESTHESIA!!
author: Pamela Torres
If you take the colorful high-flying cast of a Cirque du Soleil show to a black leather rave bar somewhere in Japan, what would it sound like? Well, the answer could very likely be found in 2009's "Kinjirareta Asobi," and eerie and ethereal 6-track album created by the duo Seileen. For anyone unfamiliar with the unique melodies of visual kei and jrock, Seileen consists of otherworldly opera singer Selia and Sisen, a dreadlock DJ who has been making a name for himself within the pulsating heart of Tokyo's underground club scene. As a fan, I discovered Selia and Sisen among the many artists signed onto Dark Labyrinth, a blossoming label that has launched the careers of Japanese and Austrailian performance artists like Suicide Ali, Takuya Angel, and my personal favorite, GPKISM. As for the "Kinjirareta Asobi" CD, it's one of the best and most original dance recordings I've heard in a long while. DJ Sisen managed to create a style of music I'd like to call electro-synesthesia. "Eden Without Eve," one of the first tunes Seileen put on their myspace page, is 5 minutes worth of shadowy harem-techno beats brought to life under a shimmering circus tent of serpentine metal guitars. "Demento" is a scarlet vampire masquerade of harpsicords and violins. "Baku," which I understand was produced by Velvet Eden's Kalm, displays an electro-goth vibe somewhat similar to a Schwartz Stein record. "Carnival of Blood" is a potential slasher-stalker anthem thanks to Sisen's cleaver use of Hitchcockian violin strings. Both the album's title track and "Rensa" present macabre keyboard melodies inspired by composers John Carpenter and Mike Oldfield. What else can I say about this Seileen debut? Whether you are attending your very first cosplay convention or driving to a midnight horror-thon, "Kinjirareta Asobi" is a top-notch soundtrack one can listen to in order to escape the noises and pressures of our so-called 'real' world.
