Self Oscillate is the solo project of ingo zobel.
He is a member of the German group "dron", which released three albums so far and contributed tracks to lots of compilations, also for the German "Space Night" and "Flowmotion" television broadcasts. Ingo composes electronic music since 1993 and was influenced mainly by the electronica/idm scene.
On his debut album these influences are pretty obvious, but also ambient textures can be heard. Despite the fact that he is located in Germany, he has developed a more "British" sound, which is often compared with acts from the Warp/Rephlex family, but without lack of personality, it's not simply a copy of other bands music.
His former background as a seller of musical instruments made him an experienced user of all kinds of electronic gear and you can meet him on several forums, which are dedicated to analogue modular synthesizers and music software.

Quality IDM
author: Kris
I like to dig deep and find albums by artists I have never heard before, most times I buy rubbish but I came across this and was very impressed indeed. Self Oscillate is a GREAT album, although run by computers it does have a human feel. The programming is very detailed and the sounds are so good you really can lose yourself!
Unlike a lot of modern IDM albums this is a real album, what I mean is you can listen to all without getting bored or feeling you`re listening to the same thing again and again, but all the tracks really suit each other and flow nicely.
I`ve never wrote a review before so apologies if it`s not magazine stuff here, but as I said I am very impressed with this album. I great find.

Noises have rythmn
author: john bug
As the description says, it is very similar sounding to early Autechre work, in fact this is the album they should have made after Amber.
As an album it works great, each track compliments each other perfect. It can be hard, slow, dreamy, noisy, yet it all comes together really smooth.
I seriously recommend this album if you like Warp, Rephlex, Planet Mu, etc.
Well done Self Oscillate!
