This album has a very warm analog feel to it, rather than the laptop plugin sounds that seems to be everywhere at the moment. All the sounds are REAL analog, not digital software desperately trying to reproduce the good stuff. Hear the difference......

Great analog sounds!
author: johnbug
I agree with the description, this album has a nice analog sound to it that other IDM artists aren't using anymore. You can tell the difference and it kind of reminds of the early 90's era of techno, the German style really shining through. Great cover artwork too! Really enjoyed this one!

Great IDM!
author: Modman
Track1 (Cycle) : fast electroid rhythms start this track with many synth layers resulting in a nice atmosphere that is both dreamy and intense! Very nice! Particularly nice is the weird percussion effect throughout this track, that remind me of a sound that was present in the japanese horror movie “Ju On” Track2 (Bassjunk): beautiful TR808-style IDM rhythms start this track. A very low bass sound dominates the track that lends its fullness to the whole track atmo. Very nice track that reminds me of the “Jet chamber” Namlook cd series sound. Track3 (Poke): more IDM weirdness with varied and imaginative rhythms here. Yet one more bass sound that I like. Some acid sounds that sound to me like a TB303 enter then, and a female phrase (that sounds like a nurse suggesting a medicine…). Interesting and weird track. Track4 (Make yourself heard): mysterious synth lines start this track that very soon, are joined by fast and complex IDM rhythms. Actually, Very nice and worked rhythms! Then a female vocal phrase enters again. I am not too fond about this element though. But the bass that is added later enhances the IDM great atmo of this track. Early Autechre-like beauty! Track5 (Fader): this one is one of my favourite album tracks. It has very complex rhythms but also nice synth pads, mysterious melodies and a dreamy down-tempo overal aura that I really like. These are the rhythms that I like. Inventive and forward-looking! Track6 (Griswold): again, weird and nice rhythms start the track. This track reminds me a bit of the good tracks from Aphex Twin. More nice sounds enter the composition later. Quite interesting track! Track7 (Metalpick): and the weirdness continues! Yet another favourite track! Very inventive rhythms and a metaloid-robotic rhythm is accompanied by very nice synth layers. Minimal arrangement but with a great final result. who said that we need many sounds to achieve beauty in electronic music? Great track! Track8 (Drift): minimal ambient track that creates a nice “selected ambient works part2 “kind of atmo. Dark and nice. Subtle overdrive add to the dark sound of this track. Very nice! Track9 (Vidcap): Autechre-land again here. A very electronic sounding track that could be a composition of a future robotic music composer gone mad and hiding in one of the dark corners of a big spaceship… that says it all. Track10 (Vril): very nice distant syntyh sounds and clicky percussion arrangements give this track a special feel. Deep low bass enters later. A downtempo and rhythmic track with a spacey atmo. Later our insane robotic composer friend seems to lend some ideas too. but this time, the robot is taking his medicine and the resulting weirdness is more controlled. Very nice! Track11 (Livingroom upstairs): don’t be mistaken, this is no ordinary livingroom. Obviously, Ingo Zopel means the living room of the spaceship with which he travelled the galaxy as a child… another minimal track that feature some quite unique synthoid pads. Nice! Track12 (Trap): starts rather ordinarily, but only to become later again one of my favourite album tracks! IDM rhythms combined with spacey distant dreamy pads. Really awesome! Here we enter Bola-like territory, but the “Self Oscillating” Zobel gives this track a special feel. Acidoid-like synth lines from distort-land blend in the whole great track’s arrangement only to enhance the great feel! And finally the Steve Roach-like distant pad really helps this track to take off! A great track ending a very nice album! This is really a recommended album for open-minded music fans, IDM/ambientoid, early Autechre albums fans and people who like the IDM-ish output of FAX label!
