ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
SGT PETTER - alias Petter Folkedal - is a brilliant singer/songwriter from the vital music scene in Bergen, Norway ,. with a distinctive voice and a head full of inventive urban country / pop songs.

In March 2002, Sgt Petter beat 500 competing acts and topped the listeners' poll of unsigned artists on P3, Norway's biggest national alternative radio station. He didn't stay unsigned for long though, releasing his debut album It's a Record january 2003 on New Records - fresh Bergen label, run and owned by record producers Sensible Twins aka Hans Petter Gundersen & Kato Ã…dland.
It`s a Record saw a unison Norwegian music press agreeing that Sgt Petters debut most certainly was an instant classic within its field, with the catchy singles ("City of Greens", "Perfection" and "How about 25") all receiving good radio airplay,
With a growing reputation, also as a live act, Sgt Petter headed for a busy summer;
Denmark's Roskilde, Peace and Love Festival in Sweden, Germanys Haldern Pop and Norway's own Øyafestivalen and Quart Festival as well as club gigs in Amsterdam, London and Stockholm.
. It's a Record hit Dutch record stores through Excelsior Recordings on August 18, followed by a 14-date tour in Netherlands and Belgium in November 2003. This period he also released " Let`s go wrestling ep ", a four track ep , in Norway.

Monkey Tonk Matters (released in Norway jan 2005), sees Sergeant Petter continue where he left off , where the big city meets the desert - or nearby ...
His head still full of those inventive songs, still as catchy , still as playful as ever the Sergeant surfs elegantly between different genres ,minding his own matters - his Monkey Tonk Matters.
The single " Honkey Tonk Rose " has done very well on Norwegian radio , receiving good airplay on all the three leading stations NRK P1, P3 and Kanal 24

Sergeant Petter hit's it on the head with this one!
'Monkey Tonk Matters' is what modern music is all about. With catchy chorus's, wondrful melodies, and awesome rhythms, Petter makes you want to dance and sing until the sun comes up! I have really enjoyed this album a lot and would advice anyone who enjoys good music to check this one out A.S.A.P!! I'm very glad I purchased it and will continue to invest in Sgt. Petter's work from now on!
