Thanks for stopping by.

In 1983 Serge Modular Music Systems produced a demo cassette featuring many talented musicians playing the Serge Synthesizer. Recently a few Serge fans got together and thought, wouldn't it be cool if we did another Serge compilation and released it on CD? This is the result. Ten people from Europe, Asia, and America contributed to this fun-packed CD.

The music is a variety of styles with a generally ambient/experimental flavor. The Serge Synthesizers you hear are from every era, from 30 year old systems to brand spanking new.

The musicians are:
Kyle Jarger & Byron Jacquot
John Loffink
Blake Wilson
Telomere (Chris Macdonald)
m/n/m/l (John Papiewski)
julien
Nick Wilson
Michael Firman
Frank Moreno and
Andre Stordeur

Serge panels, like the Buchla, take the composer somewhere else. No keyboards being hired today. Notation need not apply. Sometimes a Jackson Pollock mood, sometimes in tonal washes, bleep, glip and flutter, this is simply fun for me, having waded through hundreds of electronic music lps and cds and even cassettes. See what happens twenty years on when this band of nonconformists let their imaginations and panel systems loose. Its a nice tribute to possibilities.

If you ever wondered what the Serge Modular System sounds like, this CD is for you. It goes all the way from semi-acoustic plucked instrument sounds to massive streams of liquid metal. It is another question if you like all the compositions, but the bandwidth of compositional styles assembled on this CD is certainly broad enough so that you'll find your cup of tea. Enjoy!

Atomkraft? Nein, danke!

If you're of the opinion that the synthesiser best fulfils its potential when no keyboard is attached to it, then you'll probably like this CD. It's full of atonality and extreme frequencies, and there's not much in the way of conventional harmony. On most tracks, it sounds like the sounds are triggered by means other than a conventional keyboard - sequencers, LFOs, and so on. Quite excellent throughout, and thoroughly recommended!

voltage controlled dementia at it's finest. garranteed to make you grind your teeth or laugh with delight. If Pollack had been a musician, this is what he would have done. That said, there are at least three cuts on here that show more tradition compostion form and show that the composers have been able to wrestle more than just bleeps and glurps from this rather quirky and esoteric instrument.
