Album Notes

Sergio Wals is a native of Mexico City, now living in Champaign, Illinois. Sergio loves to play live, and he performs regularly, including shows at clubs, bookstores, summer fairs and markets, and schools. This year, Sergio has performed throughout the Midwest, and also in Maryland, Florida and elsewhere. Sergio's fun, bouncy style engages audiences of all ages. A highlight of Sergio's shows is when the whole audience joins in on the sing-along title track "Michael Closed the Bathroom Door."

Since its 2008 release, songs from "Michael Closed the Bathroom Door" have been played on children's music programs on numerous radio stations, and some of the songs even have been played on the nationally-syndicated Dr. Demento Show.

Sergio's CD was recorded at Alex Stangl's studio in Peterborough, Ontario, and Alex performs on all of the songs. Before settling into the studio, Alex was the guitarist and chief songwriter for the popular Canadian bands Strobic Axe and Bamboo.

All songs on the CD are based on poems by children's poet Jeff Mondak. Jeff's Shel Silverstein-style poems have been published widely, including several in Spider and Cricket magazines, and in the Meadowbrook anthologies "I Hope I Don't Strike Out," "Rolling in the Aisles," "My Teacher's In Detention" and "Peter, Peter Pizza Eater." Sergio and Jeff tour together performing music and poetry shows at schools throughout the United States.
