ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
INGRID SERTSO is an internationally celebrated vocalist and award-winning poet, combining song interpretation with spoken word and sound improvisations in her very own, inimitable ways. She performed and recorded with Don Cherry, Babtunde Olatuniji, Steve Gorn, Paula Moura, Karl Berger and many others, as well as her own solo projects. This is what musicians and the press say about her:
"No motion is wasted; she sings straight from the heart"
"Her voice moves you, makes you play" (Don Cherry)
"She has the most uncontaminated voice I ever heard" (Ornette Coleman)
"Ingrid Sertso established herself as a thoroughly original vocalist and poet who engages the listeners with her soft intensity"
"She changesplayfully from song-interpretation to sound-improvisations and speaking voice, with her uncanny sense for time and space."
KARL BERGER is a six-time winner of the Downbeat Critics Polls as a jazz soloist and won numerous Composition Awards. He recorded and performed with Don Cherry, Lee Konitz, John McLaughlin, Dave Holland and many others worldwide. He wrote for Jeff Buckley, Natalie Merchant, The Cardigans, Angelique Kidjo, Bill Laswell and many others. About his music:
"This is music of great maturity and coolness...of a timeless and unpretentious beauty as one rarely encounters in today's jazz"
"Works of unthought-of beauty: makes you listen, because it opens spaces in the stressful daily life of the post-modern age"

The album "On And On" is one that I can listen to again and again. The phrasing of both the vocals and the piano is so uncommonly pure that the music reaches you without any diversion; it goes straight to the marrow of that place from which we all listen.
Intimate and unaffected, Ingrid Sertso's voice is simultaneously bold and sincerely sensitive, as are her words.
Karl Berger's playing is the playing of a true master; so nuanced, and just superb in every way.
"On And On" is the kind of album that makes you immediately nod your head in agreement to something you never knew you agreed with, because you hadn't heard it until now.
