Album Notes

From the heart of Akron, Ohio, comes the new CD from the Super Elastic String Band. Featuring 20 original songs and instrumentals – interspersed with traditional fiddle tunes –Fastest Stapler in the West is filled with wit, irreverence, and catchy melodies designed to lodge permanently in your cranium. Meet a man hell-bent on doing in Punxatawny Phil; a 95-year-old cigar-smoking, poker-playing granny who dispenses her warped world view; a free spirit who colors in his own psychedelic electoral map; a libidinous librarian who puts the “funk in Funk & Wagnalls”; a cubicle-bound dreamer who sings about his Rolodex named Tex; and other characters juxtaposed against furious double/triple fiddling, nimble mandolin runs, the thump of a plucked cello, and some sweet harmonies. For lovers of string band music flavored with a healthy dose of good humor, this 72-minute release will fit nicely into your CD player. Enjoy!
