Album Notes

Josh Seurkamp is Cincinnati's quintessential drummer/percussionist. His range flows seamlessly from exotic ethnic percussion to driving pop music and all points in between. As a general rule of thumb, if you've heard of any artist or group in Cincinnati, Josh has played with them. He is widely sought after for his defining creativity, his eclectic influences, his unrivalled performances, and his vast array of unusual instruments.

Josh Seurkamp embodies the spirit of independent music. Music is not only his career, it is his life. His music has helped define the sounds and textures of a host of artists, and his live performances are instantly recognizable as essential Josh Seurkamp.

Josh lives to play. If there were no such thing as a concert or an album, you can be assured that Josh would still be passionately playing his music.

Josh has toured and recorded with such artists as:
Phil Keaggy
David Wilcox
Tony Levon (Peter Gabriel, John Lennon)
Grammy Nominated Producer/artist: Ric Hordinski (Over The Rhine, Monk)
David Wolfenberger (The Creek Dippers, The David Wolfenberger Band)
Kim Taylor

In addition he has recorded over 100 records and numerous movie and television soundtracks.

"A Slave Left Dreaming" is the new release by Joshua Seurkamp, one of the Midwest's most sought after drummer/percussionists. The follow up to his 2000 release, "Garden Of Sound," "A Slave," as one listener put it, "is more than just an auditory sensation, it evokes the soul." On this new release Joshua finds himself working once again with long time friend and collaborator, Grammy nominated producer/guitarist Ric Hordinski. In addition to Hordinski the record features guitar virtuoso Phil Keaggy and bass player session great Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, John Lennon).

Get lost in the music
author: Scott
I'm a huge fan of Hans Zimmer who has done many soundtracks for movies and this CD reminds me of those. I can just relax, listen to this CD, and just drift away to whatever comes to mind. It's great to daydream.

Not at all what I expected!!! Loved it!!
author: Beth Anne Herrin
This CD is not at all what I expected, but am pleasantly surprised. Listening is like taking a trip around the world and seeing beauty in everthing. Josh is one of the most passionate, and gifted percussionists I have ever watched perform. This is another side of him I am glad to have caught a glimpse of!

superior world music from the midwest.
author: bill smith
It would seem unlikely that an instrumental percussion CD would be all the things that this project is: meditative, thought provoking, and musical. Seurkamp surpasses his previous release with guest appearances by Tony Levin (John Lennon, Peter Gabriel)and Phil Keaggy.

even more surreal than the Garden
author: Mark Ryan
This is another fantastic surreal journey. It is evident that in this CD Josua had matured as a musician and as a person. The one thing this CD lacks is a pure percussion performance similar to the improv tracks on Garden of Sound. Nonetheless, this is a great CD to listen to during times of devotion and prayer.
