Album Notes

This, my friends, is the dawn of the Swedish peace jazz movement. Only stone-hearted men can stay unaffected, when them hundred-year old-devil dissonances smoke the peace pipe together with the sweetest melodies from today.

On their debut album, Seven Peace Orchestra combines a true musical sincerity with a sometimes provoking playfulness. Composed parts take turns with charged improvisations, allowing all seven voices to be heard in expressive emotional outbursts. While allowing things to take time, always trusting themselves and their music, they never lose their gnu herd intensity.

Seven Peace Orchestra have existed since 2003, making music both thoroughly composed and freely improvised, sometimes even at the same time. With their self-coined genre, peace jazz, Seven Peace Orchestra is not only about great music, but also honesty and equality between people, no matter gender, colour or income. The compositions are made by drummer Martin Öhman, and adapted to the moment by seven highly individual musicians.

A seven piece orchestra making peace jazz, a musical antidote for hard times, with songs balancing on a thin line between honesty and presence.
