Album Notes

Sarah Elizabeth Burkey's honest and pure songs are a voice for people whose stories need to be told but are lost, forgotten, silent. The title track of Sarah Elizabeth's album, When The Redbuds Bloom, begins with the lyrics: "There's a place I remember, a time I often recall, before the countryside was overtaken by suburban sprawl." Sarah wrote several of the songs for this album while hiking 325 miles across Kentucky backroads, railroads, forests and fields for 19 days.

Sarah's music and writing embodies many elements of her ancestry including Native American, Celtic, Appalachian, Bluegrass, Blues, Oldtime, and Spirituals. Sarah plays 11 instruments and has work on 15 CDs. Her literary works have been published in the USA and Europe. When not touring Sarah lives in Kentucky.
