The Sexy Accident is pure indie pop - hyper, fun and infatuated.
TOURISM, the band's debut album, is 30 minutes of british-infused guitar shenanigans perpetuated by Kansas City's most-oddly-constituted trio.
Jesse Kates writes, strums and sings.
Seasoned, trained, professional and generally too-skilled guitarist Dan Weller defies all logic by playing BASS.
Billy Brown, Zoologist, occasionally rips through his snare drum in live performances.
Yet hidden among the odd, catchy time signatures, melodic distortion and endless alternate (sexy) tunings beats a sincere heart.
These songs (like all songs) are half fiction, half truth, but in recounting the personal, Jesse hopes to make his experiences universal (or at least regional, whichever comes first.)
The band are also not afraid to 'chill' once in a while, as evidenced by the dreamy "Morning Pales" and the sparkling, nostalgic romp "Bottled in Glass."
Jesse Kates has written and recorded three other albums - two with instrumental indie wizards Whitford, and one solo sortie into live looping territory.
Jesse also plays in McCracken with Chuck Whittington of Namelessnumberheadman.
TOURISM was written, recorded and produced by the band and is packaged in nifty, environmentally-friendly transparent circle cases! This is a professionally mastered CD (not a CDR!)

...One part Cheap Trick and one part They Might Be Giants, TSA out maneuvers all expectations by weaving geeky intelligence and humor throughout their quirky rock opus.
Perhaps their finest moment is Undefeated Champion of The Arcade... It's got a groovy droning guitar line, with nasal-toned vocals boasting about video gaming skills, along with a lament about the arcade being torn down to build a Rite-Aid. What's not to love?

Every song hits its mark

[Tourism is] a quick, compact album where every song hits its mark, and
when it's over you're ready to play it again... sleek, punchy pop-rock... infectious and fun, yet still filled with real-world emotions, stories, and settings....an album you can play and play and play...listen to, sing to, live with. The lyrics are detailed, seem carefully crafted, and reflect circumstances from life as we know it (in the "Arcade" song, for example, the video arcade is torn down to make way for a Rite Aid). A feeling of loss, wrapped up with memory and wishes and regrets and hope, runs through the album's second half, culminating with the
gorgeous final track, "The More Things Stay the Same"
